Winter

Perfect Storm & Fireplace watching

December, January, and February mark winter on the coast. Storm watching the mighty Pacific Ocean is a favorite activity for locals and visitors alike. Whether you watch from the comfort of your lodgings or walk the beaches, nothing compares to the wild ocean waves this time of year.

February begins our annual Glass Floats on the Beach treasure hunting. Each February-April hundreds of glass floats are hidden on our beaches for our visitors to find. If you find a glass float you get to keep it plus you also get to enter a weekly and a monthly drawing at our Visitor Center. One lucky winner is chosen each month for a vacation package that includes a 1-night stay in a local motel, a pair of Jerry’s Rogue Jets tickets, and dinner for two at one of our great local restaurants.

The week of Valentine’s Day is special for glass float hunting. We hide red colored floats exclusively at this time for those planning a romantic getaway. Make your Valentine’s Day special this year by planning a storm watching trip and red float treasure hunt with your sweetie. During the week of St Patrick’s Day, we put on the green by hiding 120 green floats!
